The Bristol Bike Show

This Saturday is the Bristol Bike Show. It is located in the centre of the city - the same streets as the Auto Italia Day.  It is usually very well attended with a big mixture of bikes inc Classics,Customs Choppers, Specials etc. I seem to remember mention of there being a Bobber competition this year?

Moto Guzzi Cafe Racer.........

...........is finally ready for some road testing / mot. It seems ages since I thought I was close to this stage and then had to wait for my clip ons with a 1" rise to arrive and then to slightly modify the m/cylinder and lengthen the hose. The bigger delay was getting the bike to run properly at idle which had me going round in circles. Finally just a few days ago I went through the various 36 mm carb slides and discovered some subtle differences in their heights when the throttle stop screws were fully wound in. Anyway, I now have the bike with a steady tickover that doesn't hang on to the revs.
Just need to get it on the road now, which will give a truer picture of how it's running rather than as sat in the workshop.
Just need the roads to dry up around by the workshop, as it gets lots of muddy puddles where the water comes off the farmers fields

BMW R90/6 by Renard Speedshop of Estonia

My friend Martin sent me a link to this rather nice BMW Special. Good to see that they've used a decent front brake too, instead of using the floating ATE calipers that for some reason so many BMW builders leave in place. Nothing on this not to like!

Noggin Nash & Natter 2017...........

.............is next Wednesday 26th July. It's held at The George, Longbridge Deverill BA12 7DG which is on the A350 Shaftesbury road just a short way from the A36. Officially it is from 5pm - 9pm.
This is a free very popular large event, more about cars and lorries / trucks than m/cycles.
Here's a few pics from last year

Cars and Bikes at the Frenchay Flower Show

I went along to The Frenchay Flower Show last Saturday for an hour or so - it's only on from 2pm - 5pm.
It's the first time that I've been in that area since Frenchay hospital has been flattened to make way for another housing estate - God only knows what the already congested Bristol roads are going to be like once all these estates start to be occupied!
The car and bike display is away from all the commotion of the Flower show on Frenchay common - the common is like a little bit of rural England but in the middle of a large city with a old church,a small row of quite grand looking Georgian houses and then cottages in the background.
There was of course a number of Douglas motorcycles, being locally built and another bit of local history in the form of a hillclimb car built by one of the son's of the Fry's (chocolate) family dynasty.
All in all a very pleasant gathering and maybe next year I'll take the time to wonder over to the common and take a look at what else is there.
